30 before 30

When I was 24, I started thinking about what I wanted to accomplish by my 30th birthday. 24 was a tough year for me and I thought if I didn't have everything figured out by the time I turned 25, I was a failure. Now I know that 25 really wasn't a big all. Through an interesting series of events that occurred during the last half of 24 and beginning of 25, I did get it figured out (somewhat) and today am a lot happier than I think I could have been had I not experienced those few months of everything falling apart and then piecing it back together.

That was 2012. A lot has happened since then and I've learned a lot. I really wouldn't change much that happened in 2012 and 2013, though.

Every month thus far in 2015 I've made a point to learn how to do something and/or accomplish something I've been putting off. I've also discovered that the best way to relax is to actually do the very things that make me nervous or anxious. It sure gets my heart racing! Learning how to shoot a gun is one of those things. Who knew I'd actually like it so much?!

30 is only a couple years away, so I figured I'd revisit this list. Here are 30 things I want to accomplish by the time I'm 30 (in no particular order):

1. Visit all 50 states (After a conference in Utah, Hawaiian vacation and Northeast roadtrip already planned for next year I'll have this done)

2. Find a job I love (Check!)

3. Make a positive difference in the dairy industry (Done that through ADSA, but always trying to do more)

4. Start a blog (Check!)

5. Write on the blog consistently (Still working on that)

6. Drive across the nation (Check! Several times)

7. Go to Vegas (that airport visit in September doesn't count)

8. Give a presentation at the national ADSA meeting as a professional member (Check!)

10. Visit Mt. Rushmore

11. Go to Hawaii (Next year!)

12. Pay off my student loans (This summer!! Sooo close...)

13. Pay off my truck (Check!)

14. Figure out where I want to live (Check! So glad I gave Indiana another chance)

15. Run a half marathon (Check!)

16. Learn how to can (Check!)

17. Reacquaint myself with sewing

18. Spend quality time with quality people (Trying to at least)

19. Do something fun every day (Running counts)

20. Become a great cook (Working on it!)

21. Stay very involved in the dairy industry (Yep...)

22. Be the best advocate for dairy that I can be (Hence the point of the blog haha)

23. Learn to say 'no' to things that don't make me happy (Working on it)

24. Shoot a gun (Check! I love it!!! One of my new favorite things to do)

25. Actually go to a yoga class (Every week!)

26. Take a road trip to the Grand Canyon (Check!)

27. Learn to crochet (this month's project)

28. Take a one week break from social media (Did that last August...really not as hard as I thought it would be)
